Melanin, Wrinkle Solutions
Sederma has
introduced two
materials that fight
the signs of aging in
different ways—by
lightening dark
spots and reducing
the appearance
of wrinkles.
Wonderlight (INCI:
Not Provided) is
designed to act on
melanocytes and
their associated
keratinocytes to
disrupt cross talk in the epidermal melanin unit. It
reportedly blocks the signaling pathways involved
in melanin synthesis by inhibiting the UV-induced
secretion of GM-CSF. The material was tested on human
skin cultures (phototype III) and shown to inhibit the
UVAB-induced increase in melanocytes.
To address wrinkles, a new peptide has been added
to the Matrixyl range. Designed to stimulate six major
components of the skin matrix and dermal-epidermal
junction (DEJ), the material is said to ensure optimal
architecture of the tissue. Matrixyl Synthe’6 (INCI: Not
Provided) aims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles from
the inside via a matrikine-like effect for visibly smoother
and plumper skin.
The skin lightening active: is botanical-based • reduces
irregularities in skin pigmentation • lightens the skin
complexion • is free from preservatives • is approved in
Japan.
The anti-wrinkle peptide: was shown to visibly smooth
wrinkles in a two month in vivo study • is said to alter
wrinkle volume, depth, surface and spread in addition to
lifting • is designed to address the signs of aging on the
forehead and crow’s-feet.
