HEAT AND COLOR PROTECTION
RUSK created an Elixir Mist for hair
that delivers the benefits of a traditional
serum in a hands-free application
using eco-friendly, propellant-free
aerosol technology. The serum can be
used on damp or dry hair, providing
heat protection up to 450°F (232°C).
It reduces drying and styling time
while smoothing the cuticle to impart
shine. Further, the serum detangles
hair for styling ease and provides
Dimethiconol, Dimethicone, PEG-
10 Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone
Crosspolymer, Propoxytetramethyl Piperidinyl
Dimethicone, Fragrance (Parfum), Phytantriol,
Benzyl Salicylate, Coumarin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone.

Ultimate Lift Eye
Ole Henriksen recently launched Ultimate
Lift Eye Crème, a multitasking hydrating
eye cream “infused with a bio-peptide
and hyaluronic acid complex,” that is said to help restore firmness
and diminish the look of lines and wrinkles. I have seen the use of
hyaluronic acid/sodium hyaluronate on the rise, and its purpose in this
eye cream is for hydration and plumping wrinkles.
This formula is an oil-in-water emulsion with cyclopentasiloxane
as the primary emollient. Other emollients include ethylhexyl palmitate,
dimethicone, Vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, Triticum vulgare (wheat)
germ oil, capric/caprylic triglycerides, Persea gratissima (avocado) oil
and Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil. Humectants are glyceryl
polymethacrylate, glycerin, butylene glycol and sodium lactate.
Emulsifying agents are glyceryl stearate SE, PEG- 8, polysorbate
80, glyceryl stearate, sorbitan oleate and PEG-100 stearate. Cetyl
and stearyl alcohol serve as thickening agents and carbomer is the
thickening and stabilizing agent.
“Bio-active” or cosmeceutical ingredients include the elasticity
booster palmitoyl hexapeptide- 12, Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf
juice, allantoin, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E acetate), panthenol (
provitamin B5), sodium hyaluronate (most likely high-molecular weight,
based on the claims for it), and extracts of Cucumis sativus (cucumber)
fruit, Avena sativa (oat) kernel, Spirulina maxima, Symphytum
officinale leaf and Chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower.
The preservative system consists of caprylyl glycol,
ethylhexylglycerin, hexylene glycol and phenoxyethanol, most likely
supplied as a preservative blend. Zinc oxide is an opacifying agent and
provides some reflective/whitening properties to help minimize dark
circles. Aminomethyl propanol (AMP) and citric acid are pH adjustors;
the AMP neutralizes the carbomer.
In my opinion, the ingredients in this formula do support the claims
made for the product.
